Constitution

January 2003

  1. The object of the Association shall be, to further the Object of the Boys' Brigade; to foster the spirit of comradeship among past and present members of the Brigade and to render services to others.
  2. The Association shall be composed of:
    1. Men and Women who are/were members of The Boys' Brigade, to be known as full members.
    2. Friends of Full members, to be known as Associate Members.
  3. All members shall have equal voting powers. At all meetings the Chairman or President shall have a deliberative and a casting vote.
  4. The members will maintain contact with the Paisley & District Battalion of the Boys' Brigade and will encourage practical support and assistance to the movement if, and when called upon to do so.
  5. The Association will provide the members with regular meetings, Church Services and other activities, which may be arranged from time to time as considered appropriate.
  6. The Association shall be financed by all members paying an annual subscription, the amount of which shall be determined at the Annual General Meeting.
  7. The Association shall at all times be independent and self-supporting.
  8. The Association shall be a self-governing body and shall elect from among its members an Executive Committee comprising:
    1. Chairman or President.
    2. Vice Chairman or Vice President.
    3. Secretary.
    4. Treasurer.
  9. The immediate Past Chairman shall be an ex-officio member of the Executive.
  10. The Chairman will normally hold office for a period not exceeding three years.
  11. The Executive Committee shall have the authority to make ex-officio appointments as necessary.
  12. The Financial Year will run from 1st January to 31st December annually.
  13. The Executive Committee shall have the authority to make any expenditure, gifts, subscriptions or donations considered appropriate. Such expenditure shall not exceed £150 without the approval of members at a full meeting of the Association.
  14. An Annual General Meeting will take place every year.
  15. In the event that the Association ceases to function or if it is decided to terminate its activities for any reason whatsoever, then its funds, property or assets will be dispersed after a full meeting or meetings of the membership is called to discuss and decide the issue.
